Water/Wastewater Staff Engineer

Dewberry is a leading professional services firm with more than 60 locations and 2,500 professionals nationwide. This position is based in the Fairfax, VA office within the Mid‑Atlantic Water Group, focusing on municipal and industrial water/wastewater treatment design. Responsibilities

• Assist with developing and managing water/wastewater programs with a focus on treatment, management, and reuse.
• Perform treatment plant process evaluations and troubleshooting, feasibility studies, bench‑scale and pilot‑scale studies, design, plant operation, and regulatory negotiation/permitting.
• Work with design teams across multiple offices and disciplines to generate detailed design documents for construction plans.
• Meet client deadlines and project budgets.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Environmental, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering.
• M.S. degree in Environmental Engineering (preferred).
• 3+ years of progressive experience on public‑sector water and wastewater projects.
• Virginia Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification required.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with modeling and GIS software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with clients, coworkers, subconsultants, and agency review staff.
• Water/wastewater infrastructure experience is a plus.

Pay

The projected salary range for this position is $86,000 – $110,000 annually; actual compensation may vary based on skills, experience, location, and market conditions.
