Water / Wastewater Project Engineer
About the role
Step Into Your New Role As a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer joining our New England Water Team, you will contribute to a variety of variety of water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure planning, design, and construction projects. You will work with a talented team of professionals with sought after experience in water resources planning, distribution and collection systems design, construction management, and trenchless technologies. You will work in a team-oriented environment, leveraging engineering and design expertise to develop technical solutions through the application of engineering knowledge and skills to support project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Develop and provide technical design support for water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with local and national regulations.
- Perform engineering calculations, analyze results, and communicate technical processes effectively to team members and clients.
- Participate in or lead field reconnaissance activities and site visits to assess project needs and conditions.
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, contributing ideas and recommendations that leverage your engineering expertise across different areas of focus.
- Prepare and review design plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Support project management tasks, including scheduling, permitting, and construction coordination.
- Contribute to the preparation of reports, proposals, and other project-related documentation.
- Mentor and guide junior staff, providing leadership and fostering a positive, collaborative team environment.
- Engage in professional development activities to continuously improve skills and knowledge in water/wastewater design and infrastructure engineering.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil, Environmental, Chemical Engineering or related field.
- 6-10 years of experience in water and wastewater design projects, with a focus on infrastructure engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; motivated candidates with the necessary qualifications and ability to obtain PE within one (1) year will also be considered.
- Experience in preparing design documents, including cost estimates, schedules, and permitting support.
- Knowledge of water resources planning, distribution/collection systems design, and trenchless technologies is a plus.
- A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a passion for working in the infrastructure engineering field.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and other relevant design tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage design tasks and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and technical writing skills.
