Principal Responsibilities
- Lead design efforts and analysis for civil site design projects across municipal, commercial, residential and industrial developments
- Complete and oversee permit applications for various water and wastewater projects in coordination with the team, client, and reviewing jurisdiction
- Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standards
- Perform surface modeling, watershed modeling, storm sewer design, sanitary sewer design, site drainage, and grading design
- Conduct field inspections and support projects through bidding and construction administration
- Build client relationships by gathering project requirements and communicating technical information effectively
- Collaborate with engineers, consultants, architects, and project managers to deliver integrated project solutions
- Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling activities to meet deadlines and objectives
- Document design decisions, client instructions, and project progress, including percent complete and fee expended
- Analyze engineering problems, develop practical and efficient solutions, interpret applicable state and local design criteria, and identify potential issues for escalation to the Project Manager
Required Qualifications And Skills
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required
- Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred
- 2 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the Civil Engineering and Construction Industry
- Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
- Strong technical and analytical skills in the civil engineering field
- Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
- Ability to lead teams with others that utilize industry standard software that assists with civil engineering analysis and design
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to travel up to 15% preferred with occasional overnight stays
