Water/Wastewater Project Engineer

Primary Function

This position will plan, design, provide construction administration, and possibly manage aspects of multidiscipline projects consisting of water/wastewater treatment and collection/distribution systems for municipal clients throughout Georgia and the Southeast region.

Primary Duties

• Develop detailed designs, plans, specifications, reports and cost estimates for treatment plants, pipelines, pump stations, tanks and other water / wastewater storage and conveyance systems.
• Perform or manage engineering/process design, hydraulics, pumping systems, and treatment process projects.
• Able to coordinate with the multiple departments and sub-consultants required for multi-discipline projects.
• Able to research and utilize available resources.
• Candidate must be self-motivated and able to lead or assist a project team in completing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Effectively communicate, in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Gathers data for engineering analyses through phone contacts, written correspondence, and research sources.
• Perform calculations and research in support of designs using engineering formulas and skills in formulating possible results based on different scenarios.
• Prepare engineering reports, opinions and recommendations.
• Maintain completed project files and proper document control.
• Prepare design drawings, technical specifications, material quantity take-offs and develop construction cost estimates for projects.
• Provide other duties as may be assigned by the Project Managers/Task Leads to support project team.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field required.
• 4 - 10 years of experience within municipal water/wastewater and/or public works field engineering.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Understanding of water treatment/distribution and wastewater collection/treatment principles and state regulations is preferred.

About the Role

Responsibilities

As a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer, you will be involved in a wide range of projects, including green field projects, upgrades, and expansions, process upgrades or rehabilitation projects, water distribution and storage systems, transmission pipelines, wastewater collection systems, pump stations, and other water utility-related projects.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should have a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field, along with 4-10 years of experience in municipal water/wastewater and/or public works field engineering. An Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is required, and a Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred. Additionally, a strong understanding of water treatment/distribution and wastewater collection/treatment principles and state regulations is beneficial.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you should be a self-starter who can manage multiple projects simultaneously. You should also possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be proficient in performing engineering calculations and research. You should also have the ability to prepare design drawings, technical specifications, material quantity take-offs, and construction cost estimates.
