About the role

We have an immediate opportunity for a Water / Wastewater Operator, Part-time located in New Jersey. Under the direction of our Operations Manager, this position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of water / wastewater treatment plants and collection systems at multiple locations throughout New Jersey. This position will be based in our Toms River, NJ office. This position is Part-time on an as-needed basis. Expected hours are typically up to 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Affirm the proper operation of water / wastewater treatment plants and collection systems in accordance with company policies and procedures and in conformance with the requirements of NJDEP.
  • Perform the necessary monitoring required as part of the operation of the water / wastewater treatment plants and collection systems.
  • Perform all necessary preventive maintenance on water / wastewater treatment plants and collection systems.
  • Inspect daily and maintain the condition and appearance of all stations.
  • Maintain all records pertaining to maintenance and treatment as required.
  • Conduct sampling of the water distribution system and wastewater treatment plants and collection systems as needed.
  • Drive long distances on a daily basis within the state.
  • Be available nights and weekends to answer emergency service calls should they arise.
  • May be subject to extreme temperatures, noise, wet and/or humid conditions, mechanical, electrical, gas exposure hazards, fumes, dusts, mists, gases and/or poor ventilation atmospheric conditions.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience as a Water/Wastewater Operator or related position.
  • Absolutely required: Valid NJDEP Public Wastewater Collection System (C License), Public Wastewater Treatment System (S License) and Public Water Treatment System (T License).
  • Candidates must possess a desire to work towards obtaining new/additional NJDEP operator licenses.
  • Must have valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Education and Experience

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • An associate's degree in Engineering Technology preferred but not required.
