About the role

GHD has an exciting opportunity for a Part-Time as Needed Wastewater/Water Treatment Plant Operator to be based in Kingman, AZ. As a Wastewater/Water Operator, you will work with the Contract Operations Group, supporting a diversity of projects in a challenging and unique setting. You will interface directly with clients, oversee and direct contractors, and become a trusted point of contact. This role offers a variety of work and the chance to drive change in your community while applying GHD’s global network of skills and decades of experience to create positive water outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Find the most effective ways to respond to routine functional inquiries by following procedures and precedents.
  • Develop product specifications and design test procedures and standards.
  • Support project management activities and contribute to data and analytics reports.
  • Build personal capabilities through assessment, development planning, training, and coaching.
  • Conduct research using primary data sources and analyze key themes and trends.
  • Carry out product development and engineering activities, defining and delivering products based on customer needs.
  • Design your own monthly schedule and assign work to others to ensure high-priority tasks are completed.
  • Assist specialists in setting up and testing new products or processes; install complex systems with guidance.
  • Maintain and repair complex plant and machinery, supervising team members and contractors to ensure operational requirements, health, safety, and environmental standards are met.

Requirements

  • High School education required.
  • Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Grade 3 Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification and ADEQ Grade 3 Wastewater Operator Certification.
  • 10 years of experience in wastewater/water treatment operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, occasionally lift up to 40 pounds, and work outdoors part-time throughout the year.
  • Ability to analyze field readings, data, and operating parameters to optimize system operations.
  • Arizona driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ADEQ Grade 4 Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification.
  • ADEQ Grade 4 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certification.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
