About the role
CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our Water/Wastewater Team in Columbia, SC. The ideal candidate will lead the way in designing, developing, and implementing innovative solutions for water/wastewater projects.
Responsibilities
- Independently complete engineering design, technical analysis, and preparation of specifications and reports for wastewater and stormwater collection system projects and assessment projects
- Develop computation methods, technical reports, and specifications under the guidance of senior staff or technical leadership
- Identify and resolve technical discrepancies, applying standard procedures and best practices for environmental sustainability and public health
- Monitor project progress and performance, acting quickly to resolve operational issues and minimize delays in critical infrastructure
- Take responsibility for large portions of projects with oversight from senior staff or management, including field assignments and rehabilitation efforts
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in civil or environmental engineering or related discipline required
- Minimum of 3 years of related engineering experience required; water/wastewater experience preferred
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- Strong working and theoretical knowledge in the respective engineering discipline with a proven ability to apply engineering knowledge in practical settings
- Understanding of QA/QC procedures and regulatory standards
- Proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.), as well as Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred
Qualifications
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with project management tools and methodologies
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to water and wastewater systems
Skills
- Proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
