Water/Wastewater Design Engineer

About the role

AH Engineering Consultants is a dynamic, results-oriented environmental engineering and consulting firm founded in 1996 and headquartered in Newport News, Virginia, with offices in Virginia Beach, VA, Jacksonville, FL, and Hampstead, NC. We are seeking a talented and motivated Water/Wastewater Design Engineer to join our consulting team.

Responsibilities

• Support the planning and design of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment facilities, pump stations, storage systems, pipelines, and related utility improvements
• Prepare or oversee engineering reports, technical specifications, construction drawings, and cost estimates
• Manage projects through design and provide support during bidding and construction phases
• Support the coordination with clients, regulatory agencies, subconsultants, and internal multidisciplinary teams
• Support permitting and regulatory compliance for municipal water and wastewater projects
• Participate in client meetings, proposal development, and business development efforts
• Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
• 2-10 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering design, preferably in a consulting environment
• Strong experience with municipal water and wastewater systems design
• Proven ability to prepare plans, specifications, engineering reports, and design calculations
• Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines effectively
