Responsibilities
- Monitor contractor operations for compliance with contract plans, provisions, and specifications.
- Proactively identify field issues and discuss solutions with supervisor and contractor.
- Be familiar with and able to advise contractors of violations of safety procedures and recommend adjustments to bring these violations into compliance.
- Executing field measurements of pay items; maintaining daily diaries, materials notebooks, redline as-built plans, understanding progress schedules, work orders, and monthly estimates.
- Oversee and document materials testing such as: soil compaction, concrete and asphalt field tests.
- Ability to document all field activities, work in a collaborative manner with the owner and contractor.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED equivalent is required.
- Associates degree in Construction Management or related field is preferred, but not required.
- 6+ years of experience in construction inspection.
- Water or wastewater facility inspection experience preferred.
- Experienced with foundations, buildings, underground utilities, earthwork, asphalt and concrete.
- Works in a timely fashion to meet project requirements.
- Communicates effectively with clients, coworkers, sub consultants, contractors and agency review staff.
Qualifications
- Excellent communications skills.
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
- Ability to perform quantity and engineering computations.
- Physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and terrains.
- Ability to repetitively stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes, in addition to ability to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces.
- Driving is a requirement of the position.
- A clean driving record is required.
Benefits
The projected range for this position is $54.02/Hr. - $75.00/Hr. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
