Water Utility Superintendent
The City of Fort Atkinson is hiring a Water Utility Superintendent. This position is a vital piece of the City's management team and is the lead professional responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation, maintenance, and oversight of Fort Atkinson’s water system.
About the role
This position oversees the day-to-day operations of the water utility, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and managing a team of water treatment plant operators and other support staff. The successful candidate will also be responsible for planning and implementing improvements to the water system to meet future needs.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of the water treatment plant and distribution system
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to water quality and safety
- Manage a team of water treatment plant operators and other support staff
- Plan and implement improvements to the water system to meet future needs
- Collaborate with other City departments to ensure the water system supports overall City goals
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in water utility management
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
