Water Truck Driver (CDL)

About the role

Hauling water in tanker trucks that hold up to 5000 gallons. The position performs a wide variety of tasks, including dust control on construction job sites and assisting heavy equipment operators during excavation and earthwork operations. Uses the auxiliary pump and fire hose on the truck to create backfill material and to wash down heavy equipment as required.

Responsibilities

• Basic understanding of mass excavation means and methods, soils testing, and safe operation of water trucks (off-road and on-road)
• Pre-trip and post-trip inspections
• Maintain a clean CDL license record
• Hold a current medical card and active CDL driver’s license
• Two years of experience safely operating a commercial vehicle with a minimum tank capacity of 2000 gallons
• Current Class A or Class B Commercial Driver License with tank endorsement
• Acceptable 5-year driving history and PSP report

Qualifications

• All construction field positions are considered safety-sensitive; candidates must pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen
• Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions
• Exposure to high levels of noise and dust typical of road construction projects
• Work around operational heavy equipment and moving machinery
• Handling materials such as oil, grease, gasoline, and diesel fuel
• Ability to climb on and off equipment safely and navigate uneven surfaces
• Constant awareness of employee activities and operation of stationary and mobile equipment
• Work often performed in close proximity to the traveling public
