Role Overview

This role involves maintaining and operating a water truck to spray water on road surfaces to maintain optimal moisture content.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Class B CDL license with Tanker Endorsement and ability to operate standard transmission vehicle.
• Pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen, DOT physical, and physical performance evaluation.
• Maintain proper license and endorsements, and have an acceptable driving record.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 1 year’s experience within the road construction industry.
• Previous experience operating a Water Truck.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform daily equipment, walk-around, and site inspections to identify and correct unsafe conditions and ensure equipment maintenance.
• Accurately record pre- and post-trip inspections on daily vehicle inspection forms.
• Safely operate water truck and water pumps.
• Apply water volumes according to road surface specifications.
• Accurately record gallons of water taken from each source, staying compliant with daily limits.
• Monitor vehicle performance, fluid levels, and mechanical fitness.
• Assist construction crews while waiting to apply water.
• Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written), work with difficult people under high-stress situations, and maintain positive customer relations.
• Troubleshoot and problem-solve material quality and equipment operation/repair issues.
• Discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
• Maintain OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety, and environmental regulations compliance.
• Ensure regular and timely attendance.
• Perform other laboring duties as needed when not operating water truck.
