WATER TRUCK
Role Overview

This role involves maintaining and operating a water truck to spray water on road surfaces to keep gravel/clay road surfaces at optimal moisture content.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Class B CDL license with Tanker Endorsement and ability to operate standard transmission vehicle.
- Pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen, DOT physical, and physical performance evaluation.
- Maintain proper license and endorsements, and have an acceptable driving record.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 1 year’s experience within the road construction industry.
- Previous experience operating a Water Truck.
DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform daily equipment, walk-around, and site inspections to identify and correct unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.
- Accurately record pre and post-trip inspections on daily vehicle inspection forms.
- Safely operate water truck and water pumps.
- Apply water volumes according to road surface specifications.
- Accurately record gallons of water taken from each source, staying in compliance with daily limits.
- Monitor vehicle performance, fluid levels, and mechanical fitness.
- Assist construction crews while waiting to apply water.
- Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written), work with difficult people under high-stress situations, and maintain positive customer relations.
- Troubleshoot and problem-solve situations related to material quality, equipment operation/repair.
- Discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Regular and timely attendance is essential.
- Perform other laboring duties as needed when not operating water truck.
