Water Treatment Technical Leader

About the role

AECOM’s Water Business Line is seeking a talented and experienced Water Technical Leader to support water treatment and distribution related planning, design, and construction projects throughout the Northeast US Region.

Responsibilities

• Cook up and oversee pilot studies.
• Cook up and oversee condition assessments of water infrastructure.
• Perform process technology evaluations and selections based on raw water characteristics and flows to satisfy safe drinking water regulations.
• Conceptualize, preliminary, and detailed designs for water treatment plant upgrades.
• Conceptualize, preliminary, and detailed designs for water distribution projects (pumping stations, storage tanks, and distribution / transmission mains).
• Coordinate with civil, hydraulic, and mechanical aspects while guiding and informing the architectural, structural, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and I&C disciplines.
• Assess trends in the marketplace and support business development activities related to water projects, including strategy, approach, and engineering fees.
• Mentor and develop junior water process and design staff.
• Participate in local and national professional organizations, including attending and presenting at conferences.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering + 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience/or education.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Experience with planning, design, construction, and operation of water-related projects, including supply, treatment, pumping station, storage, and distribution / transmission.

Preferred Requirements

• Master's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering is highly preferred.
• 10+ years of extensive project experience in municipal water planning and design.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to be client-facing.
• Strong knowledge of water design codes, standards, and regulations.
• Strong communication skills in coordinating with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public to accomplish assigned objectives.
• Strong commitment to ensuring safe project execution.
• Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to work well in a team environment.
• Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods.
• Self-starter and ability to take initiative.
• Experienced technical writer.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $130,000.00 - $170,000.00.
