Water Systems Operator 1/2/3/4 - Storm Drain

About the role

Performs a variety of skilled duties related to the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of the city storm drain collection system. May operate machinery to clean water systems.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

• Graduation from high school.
• Previous experience with underground water systems, equipment placement, residential service locations, easements and right-of-way specifications is preferred.
• Must have a Utah CDL license or obtain it within 6 months.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Skilled in operating various types of tools and power equipment to perform essential functions.
• Ability to develop effective working relationships with supervisor, subordinates and the public.
• Will be required to pass a drug test and background check.
• Position level depends on experience and State Wastewater Collection Certification.
• Must obtain State Wastewater Certification Grade 1 within 12 months.
• Employee must reside within 30 minutes of City Limits (based on average Google Maps drive time) for on-call purposes. Employee can take up to 6 months to relocate within appropriate response time area.
• Employment in this position is conditional upon passing a pre-employment background and drug test.

Pay

• Water Operator 1 (Distribution Grade 1 within 12 months, 0-1 years): $21.35 - $25.62 starting pay
• Water Operator 2 (Distribution Grade 2, 2 years): $22.41 - $27.46 starting pay
• Water Operator 3 (Distribution Grade 3, 4 years): $24.21 - $29.65 starting pay
• Water Operator 4 (Distribution Grade 4, 8 years): $25.66 - $31.43 starting pay

Schedule

Monday - Thursday: 6:30 am - 5:00 pm, with the possibility of on-call rotations and weekends.
