About the role
As a Water Right Engineer at Moore Engineering, you are responsible for planning, designing, and managing infrastructure systems related to the safe and efficient distribution and treatment of water. Responsibilities
- Review and analyze Colorado Water Court decrees
- Estimate historical crop consumptive use
- Estimate lagged depletions and accretions to river systems
- Estimate in-priority water for surface or groundwater diversions, stream basin hydrologic analyses, and occasional fieldwork related to streamflow measurements
- Evaluate diversion sites
- Evaluate reservoir sites
- Provide deep-well drilling observation
- Collect generalized field data
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, hydrology, or geology (Engineering preferred)
- 3—5 years’ experience in water rights consulting
- In-depth knowledge of Colorado Water Law
- Experience supporting water lawyers in Colorado Water Court proceedings
- Fieldwork experience in streamflow measurement and drilling observation
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Excel and database applications
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 and Adobe Suites
- Municipal deep well drilling observation preferred
- Datalogger and transducer programming and deployment preferred
- MODFLOW modeling preferred
Requirements
- Primarily in the office with occasional work out in the field, primarily in the State of Colorado
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and hearing
- Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds
- Close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
