Water Resources Project Manager
AE2S is a fast-paced, team-oriented and technologically advanced engineering consulting firm seeking a Water Resources Project Engineer/Manager to join our growing team in Billings, MT. This role is key to project delivery and business development, supporting our western Montana operations in collaboration with Water Resources staff across all AE2S geographies.
About the role
The ideal candidate will have a strong motivation to advance their career and experience with project management, business development, hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analysis, and engineering design related to stormwater and water resources infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Perform various team roles within project delivery, including project management, QA/QC, and technical execution for stormwater and water resources engineering.
- Work on project types such as urban stormwater management (water quality and flood resiliency) analysis, master planning, and design; FEMA floodplain studies; and water supply reliability planning.
- Grow market and technical presence in the region by prioritizing client pursuits, building client relationships, providing client management, identifying opportunities, and supporting competitive proposal efforts.
- Manage multi-disciplinary resources to deliver high-quality projects that meet or exceed client expectations.
- Serve as a technical resource for junior engineers within the Water Resources Practice.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field related to water resources.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in Montana or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Experience in water resources engineering in Montana.
- Demonstrated experience interfacing with clients and successfully leading or participating in watershed master planning, drainage basin design, floodplain studies, and water supply planning.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work remotely and collaboratively with clients and project team members.
- Ability to travel as required for project/client responsibilities and business development.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, which may include criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to multi-task and effectively manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Knowledge of project financials.
- Demonstrated experience pursuing and winning water resources projects through the competitive RFP/Q process.
- Demonstrated experience using SWMM software for urban stormwater management analysis and HEC-RAS for floodplain analysis.
- Basic proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
- Proven track record of successfully completing tasks and projects on time and on budget while meeting or exceeding client expectations.
Physical Qualifications
- Ability to walk up to 3 miles on uneven terrain.
- Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.
- Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 50 pounds).
- Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify errors or defects.
- May require wearing Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), including flame-resistant clothing, hard hat, and protective footwear.
- May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying by workload.
- May require travel to off-site locations, including occasional overnight stays.
