Responsible for
- Planning, design and implementation of drainage improvement, stormwater management and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling projects
- Focus on projects for the transportation sector
Work closely with
- Project managers
- Under the supervision of a licensed engineer
Duties
- Develop comprehensive drainage designs for DOT and municipal projects using MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards, details and specifications, including drainage manual standards, QA/QC protocols and permitting requirements
- Develop drainage and stormwater plans and details
- Prepare drainage plan sets to be submitted as standalone construction-level plans or incorporated with civil packages for transportation projects
- Prepare Storm Water Management Reports and other technical reports
- Prepare culvert/bridge hydrologic and hydraulic studies
- Assist in development of project Scopes of Work and cost estimates
- Cook up drainage designs with other civil/transportation disciplines including Roadway, Structures, Utilities, & MOT
Position duties require
- Extensive utilization of OpenRoads Designer (StormCAD), Microstation, ESRI ArcGIS Pro, PCSWMM, FHWA HY-8 and Hydraulic Toolbox
Position based in
Raleigh, North Carolina
- Requires approximately 15% travel time to client project sites within the East South Central and South Atlantic regions
- May work from home up to 2 days per week, subject to change at any time
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, including coursework in hydrology and water resources
- Followed by minimum two years of experience in the position offered
