About the role
A growing engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Hydraulic & Drainage Engineer to lead the delivery of transportation drainage and hydraulics projects. This role combines technical leadership, project delivery, regulatory compliance, and team mentorship across highway, roadway, and municipal infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
Leading hydraulic and drainage design for transportation, roadway, highway, and municipal infrastructure projects
Preparing and reviewing drainage studies, hydraulic models, technical reports, and design calculations
Performing site investigations, field reviews, and construction support activities
Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, design standards, and quality control procedures
Supporting business development efforts including proposals, RFP responses, and client engagement activities
Mentoring junior engineers, reviewing technical work, and contributing to staff development initiatives
Qualifications & Competencies
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related discipline
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required
Minimum of 7+ years of experience in hydraulic, drainage, or transportation engineering
Strong understanding of transportation drainage design, hydraulic analysis, and applicable regulatory requirements
Proficiency with CADD software, engineering design tools, and Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of industry standards including AASHTO, NACTO, and state DOT design criteria
Excellent communication, project coordination, and technical leadership skills
