Water Resources Engineer | Billings, MT

Principal Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, oversee and manage projects ranging in size and complexity
  • Aid Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes of work and fee calculations for proposal generation as well as with contract reviews
  • Create project schedules including targets for milestones and deadlines
  • Serve as the point of contact for teams and clients
  • Create monthly billings and submit financial information to Accounting in a timely manner; Update billing projections and estimated completion percentage for all projects monthly
  • Ensure design follows owner standards and requirements, IMEG standards, and code requirements; Ensure design milestone deliverables are achieved, IMEG and client quality control processes are completed, and construction technical support occurs in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with design staff and coordinate scheduling of projects during all phases of design and construction; Schedule and lead progress meetings and provide meeting documentation
  • Conduct construction site visits and provide documentation as needed or requested
  • Respond to and resolve client/construction concerns; Manage change orders and obtain appropriate approvals
  • Build, maintain, and develop client relationships

Required Qualifications And Skills

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • Demonstrated leadership traits in the Project Management career path
  • Adept in the technical aspects of one’s discipline
  • Mastery of technical and analytical skills including proficiency in the Civil Engineering field
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays

About the Role

This role involves leading design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for moderate to complex projects, working closely with engineers and consultants to provide project direction, engineering solutions, and client-focused outcomes. The focus is on civil infrastructure and/or site design, with an emphasis on water resources work.
