Water Resources Engineer

About the role

This is a multi-disciplinary Water Resource Engineer position that requires strong knowledge of civil/environmental engineering practices and principles along with understanding and appreciation of biological and ecological science. Flexible location in any New England office, with Northampton, MA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Desktop and field studies supporting a broad spectrum of water resource engineering projects focused on assessment and design for aquatic habitat restoration, including:
  • Dam removal
  • Culvert replacement
  • Bridge hydraulics and scour
  • Flood risk assessment
  • Coastal resilience
  • Stream restoration and enhancement
• Writing and preparation of documentation and engineering design materials
• Hydrologic/hydraulic modeling

Requirements

• BS or MS degree in civil or environmental engineering discipline
• 10+ years of experience
• Professional Engineer license required; ability to obtain additional licenses in Massachusetts and other New England States within three months of hiring date
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Drafting skills, including experience with AutoCAD software / Civil 3D
• Good understanding of mathematics and engineering mechanics
• Ability to creatively apply technical knowledge
• Ability to perform fieldwork
• Attention to detail, positive attitude, desire to support team success

Skills

• Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS
• Experience with surface water hydrology and hydraulics
• Experience working and recreating in and along waterways
• Experience and interest in hydraulics and river mechanics

Pay

• Various locations in ME, VA: $81,800.00 - $118,600.00 annually
• Locations in MN, OH, VT, & various CA, ME, NY, VA areas: $90,900.00 - $131,800.00 annually
• Locations in WA, DC & various CA, MA, VA areas: $107,300.00 - $155,500.00 annually

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Full time
