Responsibilities

  • Manages the budget for assigned areas, allocating resources, monitoring expenditures, and coordinating daily work activities.
  • Provides technical guidance to staff, monitors work progress and quality, and prepares operational reports as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and rules by reviewing and monitoring process flows, sampling procedures, and emissions; analyzing test results, trend data, and process reports; updating and maintaining chemical inventory; and initiating actions to correct deviations or violations.
  • Oversees daily operations of assigned facility by ensuring critical and essential equipment assets are functional, completing maintenance activities and work orders, monitoring operational performance, conducting plant inspections, and maintaining related documentation.
  • Maintains adherence to established safety procedures by monitoring work environment and use of safety equipment, overseeing the posting of proper signage for confined space and chemical hazards, ensuring maintenance, availability, and accessibility of Material Safety Data Sheets, conducting safety meetings and inspections, and maintaining related documentation.
  • Ensures proper training of assigned staff by developing and implementing on-the-job training and safety training, ensuring staff attend continuing education courses, and maintaining all training documentation.
  • Develops and implements budgets for assigned areas by allocating department resources, monitoring expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budget, and maintaining related documentation.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
  • Counsels, disciplines, and completes employee performance appraisals for assigned staff.
  • Coordinates work activities at and assigned water reclamation facility: prioritizes work activities in order to meet objectives; ensures subordinates have the proper resources needed to complete the assigned work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; consults with assigned staff to assist with complex and problem situations and provide technical expertise; and provides progress and activity reports to County management as requested.
