Water Quality and Grease Interceptor Inspector

What You'll Do

  • Conduct inspections of grease interceptors, grit traps, liquid waste haulers, and other regulated facilities.
  • Investigate and respond to citizen complaints and environmental concerns.
  • Perform inspections related to stormwater quality, detention ponds, construction sites, and illicit discharges.
  • Aid with environmental compliance, public education, and enforcement activities.
  • Support MS4 and SWP3 compliance programs.
  • Conduct property maintenance and code compliance inspections, including nuisance violations, illegal dumping, abandoned vehicles, high grass and weeds, and related ordinance enforcement.
  • Gather evidence, document findings, issue notices, and educate residents and businesses on compliance requirements.
  • Assist with environmental investigations, reporting, and recordkeeping.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Neighborhood Services, and other City departments to support community initiatives and regulatory compliance.

What We're Looking For

  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in water quality, environmental health, code enforcement, or a related field.
  • Texas Registered Code Enforcement Officer certification preferred, or the ability to obtain it within six (6) months of hire.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations, inspections, and compliance programs is preferred.
  • A Valid Texas Class C Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
