Water Plant Operator

About the role

Ensure the water treatment plant, supply, and distribution system is well maintained and reflects an image of outstanding quality, providing safe and clean water in accordance with federal, state, and local legislation, policies, and standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of the water treatment plant to ensure the availability of a clean and safe water supply (requires Virginia Class 3 waterworks license).
• Maintain the treatment plant systems, including a rotating remote monitoring schedule.
• Maintain and operate the filtering and chemical treatment processes.
• Service and repair water treatment plant equipment, including intakes, piping, storage vessels, chemical treatment equipment controls, pumps, and valves.
• Maintain the water supply system to ensure adequate water levels for treatment year-round, regardless of weather.
• Maintain the water distribution system to deliver safe and clean water to all customers with minimal interruption.
• Assist the plumbing team in maintaining the water distribution system from the plant to the ends of the system.
• Order supplies, replacement parts, and fuel for water treatment plant equipment.
• Complete water tests and maintain records.
• Maintain appropriate chemical levels.
• Ensure operation of generators during power outages.
• Read meters monthly and maintain daily logs.
• Repair and maintain the municipal water supply, including valves, piping, meters, and hydrants.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

• Power, shop, and hand tools.
• Test instruments.

Working Environment

• Interior of water treatment plant in a noisy environment.
• All areas of the resort property.
• Exterior with exposure to all weather conditions.
• Exposure to various hazardous chemicals.

Requirements

• Must have and maintain a Virginia Class 3 Waterworks Operators License or higher.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
