Responsibilities
- Supervise, coach, and develop laboratory staff, including scheduling, training, performance management, and employee development.
- Cook up daily laboratory operations to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of testing.
- Monitor laboratory quality systems and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, and safety requirements.
- Review laboratory data, reports, and quality control measures to ensure accuracy and integrity.
- Aid in method validation, process improvements, and implementation of new technologies or procedures.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and coordinate calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.
- Manage laboratory inventory, supplies, and reagent needs.
- Collaborate with internal departments and customers to address technical questions and service needs.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Support budgeting, resource planning, and operational goals established by laboratory leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, Microbiology, or a related scientific field.
- Previous laboratory experience in an environmental, water, analytical, or related testing environment.
- Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and Microsoft Office applications.
Prior to Employment
- Experience in a certified environmental or water testing laboratory.
- Knowledge of EPA testing methodologies and laboratory accreditation requirements.
- Experience with quality systems, audits, and regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with instrumentation commonly used in water testing laboratories.
