About the Role
The City of Fort Worth Water Department, Management Services Division, is seeking a Water IT Programmer/Analyst II to join the Water IT team. This team supports all technology used across the Fort Worth Water Utility, including systems that serve customers directly. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise and the ability to work within a collaborative environment where customer service, communication, and dependable technical delivery are essential.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and resolve moderately complex application and data problems
- Assist in efforts to implement innovative solutions that enhance application performance and user experience
- Participate in the design, program (development), maintenance and execution of testing of new and changed functionality for applications
- Assist users with data analysis, queries and ad-hoc reports to support daily operational, business process, and utility regulatory reporting requirements
- Document technical solutions, maintain specifications, and contribute to technical standards and knowledge sharing across the team
- Work with business users to analyze business requirements and translate into technical specifications and design, develop and implement application modifications, interfaces, and integrations
- Coordinate and execute system software upgrades, migrations, patches, or system maintenance with other Fort Worth Water Department divisions and vendors. Escalates issues as they arise
- Monitor and evaluate the quality, responsiveness, efficiency and effectiveness of information systems, methods and procedures; and works on the continuous improvement of systems and services
- Adapt and self-educate on new technologies to provide recommendations regarding their usage in our environment
- Perform other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- Two (2) years experience in information systems design/administration, systems analysis, or programming
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- Participate in a 24 x 7 on call rotation
Preferred Qualifications
- Municipal or local government experience – Water/Wastewater Utility experience is a plus
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Integration tools such as MuleSoft, WebLogic, Dell Boomi
- Web Services: Developing and implementing REST/SOAP (JSON/XML)
- DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, and source control (e.g., GitHub)
- Any JavaScript languages, preferably React
- Programming languages, preferably Java
- Relational databases, stored procedures, SQL queries
- Knowledge of: Oracle RightNow/Oracle Service Cloud software or similar application & UMAX Utility Suite
Pay
$73,689 - $95,914 annual compensation
Schedule
Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm; Some evening/weekend work required.
