Responsibilities

  • Oversees the management of the RODI system through coordination with the manufacturer/vendor and Facilities Department.
  • Performs scheduled disinfection of dialysis and portable RO machines.
  • Collects and monitors culture and LAL sampling of dialysis and RO machines on a monthly basis and as needed.
  • Manages reports associated with machine disinfection, water culture and LAL sampling, and other reports as required.
  • Manages HD machine in partnership with Clinical Engineering and service contract provider.
  • Implements activities as assigned according to policies, protocols and practice guidelines.
  • Troubleshoots equipment as needed.
  • Utilizes computer information management systems to facilitate assigned duties.
  • Initiates action plans for cultures out of range of the AAMI standards.
  • Reports all findings to Clinical Coordinator/Director of Renal Services.
  • Organizes and reprioritizes work based on unit needs, available resources and unit requirements.
  • Supports compliance with hospital accreditation, state licensure, and other external accrediting agency requirements.
  • Reviews unit/department communication to maintain current working knowledge of job responsibilities.
  • Prepares water samples for shipping.
  • Provides coverage for unit clerk duties in both acute and chronic unit.
  • Affords assistance in patient transport both in acute and chronic unit.
  • Identifies safety risks and participates in instituting measures to prevent/reduce the risk.
  • Contributes to prevention of infectious diseases among employees, patients, and visitors by adhering to Infection Control policies and procedures.
  • Completes employee accident reports and contributes information to complete incident, medication variance, and infection control variance reports.
  • Reports environmental safety hazards, including damaged and broken equipment.
  • Ensures emergency readiness, and initiates timely emergency measures as appropriate according to role responsibilities.
  • Conserves hospital resources.
  • Reviews records for accuracy and completion, pursues corrections as needed.
  • Participates in CQI process and reports data collected.
  • Participates in formal group discussion for improvement.

Qualifications

  • Dialysis Technician Certification required.
  • Complete Water Class Training within 6 months of hire.
  • Knowledge of Spreadsheet and Word Processing software.
  • Participate in Water CEUs.
  • Dialysis Technician Certification required.
