About the Role

This position is located at RRU Bautista Conservation Camp. Candidates may be selected by resume review. The role involves operating and maintaining water and sewage plant systems. A Stationary Engineer may also be considered for this position.

Requirements

  • Medical clearance prior to being hired.
  • Valid State of California Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate (required).
  • Desirable qualifications: A valid grade 3 or higher wastewater operator certificate and a grade 1 or higher water distribution operator certificate (not a water treatment certificate).
  • Copy of the front and back of a valid driver's license of the appropriate class by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • Authorization to Release Information Form (PO-299).
  • Disclosure of any prior felony status if required to work with inmates at a conservation camp (per California Penal Code 4571).
  • Compliance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) for positions located at a camp or requiring supervision of inmates, verified through Live Scan prior to and during employment.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification(s). TAU (Temporary Authorization Unit) applicants are encouraged to apply. Note:

  • TAU appointments are temporary and limited to 9 months in any 12 consecutive months.
  • TAU appointees gain no status or rights and must transition to a permanent appointment by passing an examination process.
  • Failure to apply, score sufficiently, or pass the exam will result in termination of the TAU appointment.

Pay

  • Water and Sewage Plant Operator: $6,696.00 - $8,477.00 per month.
  • New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
  • Stationary Engineer (consideration for this role):
    • Range A: $6,088.00 - $7,707.00 per month ($35.12 - $44.46 per hour).
    • Range B: $6,696.00 - $8,477.00 per month ($38.63 - $48.91 per hour).
