Water Aerobic Instructor

Responsibilities

• Develop member relationships
• Increase program development and member retention
• Instruct safe, effective and fun group exercise classes
• Aid the Aquatics Coordinator/Director or Branch Director with various branch activities
• Supervise and guide participants through workouts
• Ensure a safe aquatic environment
• Clean and maintain equipment after classes
• Demonstrate variations to encourage participant pacing
• Follow emergency procedures and act as a primary responder
• Encourage healthy lifestyles and not special diets/supplements
• Attend staff meetings and special events
• Provide individualized exercise and fitness instruction
• Increase exposure of YMCA to non-member participants
• Substitute teach for other instructors as needed

Qualifications

• Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED/Blood Borne Pathogens/Basic First Aid/Emergency Oxygen Administration (within 30 days of hire)
• Nationally recognized certification in water aerobics from an accredited organization
• Maintain at least one regular schedule water aerobics class per week
• Maintain all appropriate certifications and provide copies to the Aquatics Coordinator/Director or Branch Director annually
• Excellent human relations and communication skills
• Team player willing to substitute teach for other instructors

Pay

$19 - $25 per hour
