WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT SUPERINTENDENT

About the role

The City of Visalia is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent to manage operations at the Water Reclamation Facility. The WRF is part of the Public Works Department and treats an average of 13 million gallons per day, using MBR filtration and UV disinfection.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations
• Coordinate and collaborate with other departments and divisions
• Research, present to City Council, and provide public assistance

Requirements

• High level of professionalism
• Sound knowledge of wastewater treatment and principles
• Customer service skills
• Demonstrated track record of project completion
• Excellent judgement, integrity, and organizational skills
• Ability to obtain State of California Pesticide Applicator Certificate within 1 year of hire
• Valid California State Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade V Certificate
• Knowledge in municipal work, procurement methods, state and federal requirements, and local government policies

Qualifications

• Five (5) years increasingly responsible experience in wastewater treatment facilities, including four (4) years of supervisory experience
• Equivalent to an Associate Arts degree from an accredited college with major work in chemistry, biology, or a related science

Special Requirements

• State of California Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade V Certificate
• Valid California Driver's License
• Valid State of California Pesticide Applicator Certificate within 1 year of hire
