About the Role
To ensure the proper amount of chemicals are added to water discharge to comply with local, state, and federal guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Applies the correct chemicals in the required amounts to the water; makes chemical feed or air adjustments as needed based on daily test results and evaluation.
- Performs tests for biological oxygen demand, total suspended solids, oil, grease, and pH levels.
- Takes water samples regularly to compare with standards and ships them to the appropriate testing facility as required.
- Completes weekly cleaning of the system and orders chemicals as needed.
- Participates as a team member in ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
- Coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members and attends appropriate team meetings.
- Fosters strong team cohesiveness on major issues and resolves any areas lacking cohesion.
- Understands and supports Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, company policies).
- Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
Physical Requirements
- Able to stand for an entire shift.
- Able to lift up to 65 pounds.
- Able to go up and down stairs, stoop, and shovel.
- Must tolerate temperatures of 95°F for 30 minutes to an hour and 32°F for similar durations.
- Works in wet, cold, hot, and slippery environments.
- Able to work in tight, confined spaces.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Standard waterproof gloves, safety glasses, gloves, and face shield.
Travel
Required for classes, training, and testing, with possible overnight stays.
Requirements
- Must obtain and maintain a wastewater license as per state requirements.
- Must have computer skills.
- Strong communication skills and decision-making ability.
