Wastewater Operator II

Responsibilities

Under general supervision, the TPO IV Primary is responsible for the control of an assigned process by operation of wastewater treatment equipment and performs related work on a rotating shift.

• Follow all applicable safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in performance of assigned duties.
• Participate in all required safety training activities.
• Report any unsafe conditions encountered in performance of duties.
• Operate assigned plant processes.
• Operate assigned treatment plant equipment by starting/stopping and regulating semi-automatic controls, note malfunctioning equipment and trouble shoot for needed repairs, and make needed adjustments where possible and refer maintenance problems to the shift supervisor.
• Record and interpret meter and gauge readings from equipment.
• Take periodic samples for laboratory analysis.
• Perform tests for process control.
• Record activities in log and prepare and submit daily shift operational reports (Short Interval Controls report (SIC)).
• Communicate and cooperate with other employees when performing work.
• Perform other duties of a similar level and nature as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• Wastewater Operator Certification is required.
