Wastewater Operator

About the Role

Long Prairie Packing Company, LLC, an American Foods Group Company, is seeking a Wastewater Operator. This role involves maintaining machinery, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring the efficient operation of wastewater treatment processes.

Responsibilities

• Identify and locate parts/part numbers from machinery or equipment manuals or parts catalogs (e.g., Cryovac, overhead chains, rail switches, conveyors, saws, etc.).
• Perform basic welding (primarily TIG; some MIG and stick) and identify good and bad welds.
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance (e.g., grease bearings, lubricate, check fluid levels, replace filters) to ensure smooth machine operation and efficient building systems.
• Assemble, install, or repair plumbing (e.g., threading pipe), equipment, or machinery.
• Complete necessary paperwork (PM sheets, work orders, etc.).
• Notify lead or supervisor of any malfunctions or repairs needed.
• Troubleshoot centrifugal (chopper) and positive displacement pumps.
• Perform wastewater treatment, sampling, and testing procedures, including understanding process flow.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Must be able to work in a variety of temperatures (warm, hot, humid, cold, wet) and on slippery surfaces at varied heights, in and around moving equipment and parts, with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Must be able to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Ability to work extended scheduled hours Monday through Saturday with daily overtime.
• Must be able to work overtime as required; start times and hours vary based on production needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Successful completion of training in the following areas is required:

• Safety
• Safe Quality Food (SQF)
• Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
• Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP)
• Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Food defense

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior quality assurance experience in a USDA-inspected beef, pork, or poultry facility.
• Prior production experience.
• Work history in the last 12 months.

Pay

Base hourly range of $19.70 to $21.85 per hour.
