Position Purpose
The incumbent will support the best interests and needs of Veolia by providing professional supervision and leadership to safely operate and maintain the Princeton Meadows wastewater treatment plant and collection system. The Supervisor Operations – Wastewater directs daily operations and maintenance activities to ensure regulatory compliance, reliable system performance, effective customer service response, and adherence to Veolia policies and procedures.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities
- Supervises the workforce engaged in operation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of the wastewater treatment plant and collection system to ensure compliance with Veolia standards and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Oversees day-to-day operation of the Princeton Meadows 1.7 MGD wastewater treatment plant, including monitoring performance, supporting process control, and ensuring appropriate operational coverage.
- Provides oversight/coordination for treatment processes including biosolids handling programs and associated equipment and vendors/contractors, as applicable to the facility’s program requirements.
- Provides oversight/coordination for air emissions systems and applicable standards (as applicable to the facility), ensuring operational practices support compliance and proper documentation.
- Provides oversight of any effluent reuse/reclaimed water operations/programs (as applicable), including monitoring, sampling/recordkeeping coordination, cross-connection controls, customer coordination, and ensuring compliance with all reuse permits, standards, and internal procedures.
- Plans, coordinates, and schedules maintenance, installation, and repair projects across the wastewater system, including lift stations, appurtenances, and related assets.
- Assigns work crews to specific jobs based on job requirements, workforce capability, safety considerations, and service priorities; promotes a team atmosphere and effective collaboration.
- Manages the preventative and corrective maintenance program including workflow execution in the CMMS (assign → dispatch → verify/close), ensuring accurate documentation and completion of work orders.
- Receives work requests and work orders; determines required labor and materials; coordinates procurement/ordering of parts, chemicals, equipment, and services as needed.
- Generates and assigns work orders arising from field inspections and/or customer complaints received through the call center or internal stakeholders.
- Performs and/or directs troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and controls (including SCADA-related) issues impacting treatment or collection operations, applying strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Ensures proper sampling support and operational data integrity; supports wastewater testing using laboratory standard methods for water and wastewater; reviews logs and operational records for accuracy and completeness; ensures required reporting is completed on time.
- Prepares reports and correspondence as required by Veolia and regulatory agencies; supports audits, inspections, and corrective action responses as needed.
- Counsels and trains staff on safety and operational procedures; conducts periodic inspections of work in progress (Veolia crews and contractors) to verify quality, compliance, and alignment with scope and budget; ensures contractors perform within budget expectations.
- Promotes safety culture and housekeeping standards at the facility and in the field; monitors safety and jobsite conditions; reports and corrects non-conforming conditions.
- Maintains accurate electronic records and ensures timely submission of required documentation and reports.
- Manages/monitors inventory (including chemicals and critical spare parts) to ensure adequate supply is maintained and properly stored/handled.
Qualifications
- Education/Experience/Background: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience. Minimum 5 years of experience in wastewater system construction, operations, maintenance, and repair. 2 years supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Complies with all organization safety, compliance, and policy/procedure requirements. Demonstrates safe work practices; participates in safety meetings; promotes continuous improvement in safety, quality, and efficiency. Uses and supports workforce management and technology tools (CMMS, GIS, SCADA, and other Veolia systems) to plan, execute, and document work. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks efficiently; makes sound decisions consistent with established procedures and policies.
Work Environment
- This position requires participation in an emergency/on-call rotation and may require weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational needs.

- Pay Range: $95,000 to $110,000 per year.
