About the role

Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled technical and maintenance work in the operation, maintenance and repair of the wastewater treatment facilities and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, operates, repairs and replaces equipment as necessary.
  • Operates, maintains, and repairs malfunctions, repairs gauges, pumps, filters and other controls and equipment.
  • Maintains, modifies or repairs instrumentation and control equipment including recorders, flowmeters and other water quality monitoring equipment.
  • Mix treating chemicals and polymers.
  • Charts lab test results for trend analysis and maintains accurate records of analyses and test results.
  • Collects samples and identifies concentrations of chemical, physical or biological characteristics of wastewater required in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Gathers and tests wastewater samples for plant efficiency reports as required in accordance with Local, State, and Federal requirements.
  • Performs quality control tests on lab equipment and lab analyses.
  • Evaluates procedures and results for accuracy and determines appropriate methods.
  • Assures that plant operates within required standards.
  • May train other operators in acceptable lab methods and procedures to assure accuracy of test results.
  • Maintain organized, clean department.

Qualifications (Required)

  • Class 3 or above Wastewater Operator License.
  • Four years of experience in a Wastewater Utility.

Physical Demands

  • Some heavy lifting and considerable moving of equipment required.
  • Lifting of objects up to 100 lbs.

  • Stooping,
  • Walking

Work Environment

  • This position requires working on the production floor in a cold environment with an average temperature of 40°F.
  • The employee will be exposed to moderate noise levels, fast-paced operations, moving machinery, wet and dry areas, and must always wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • The role requires interaction with employees, contractors, and supervisors in a dynamic manufacturing setting.
