Responsibilities
- Collect 24-hour composite and grab samples of influent and effluent wastewater streams and coordinate off-site laboratory testing for either routine monitoring or permit-related purposes.
- Perform routine laboratory testing of influent and effluent wastewater streams for state-mandated testing and system monitoring.
- Initiate and interpret all phases of an investigation for any non-compliance events with the SPDES permit parameters and complete all required documentation and notifications.
- Perform PM and routine maintenance for Wastewater Treatment Plant and plant-wide fire pump and tank systems to ensure proper operation.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation for sampling, testing, and maintenance activities in accordance with state and company requirements.
- Make routine process and mechanical adjustments of controls to maintain compliance in wastewater treatment plant operations.
- Assist with regulatory inspections by providing requested documentation and supporting plant leadership.
- Maintain daily logs per DEC & EPA requirements, including related reports and submissions to environmental agencies.
- Support machinery and equipment repairs, conduct maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant, collections, and distribution systems.
- Assist with the upkeep of the mechanical equipment for the plant-wide fire prevention system.
- Evaluate all generated waste streams for compliance in handling wastewater.
Requirements
- A high school diploma/GED or higher.
- 1-3 years’ experience in similar waste water or handler roles.
- Available for call-in response to plant or compliance emergencies outside of regular hours.
- Knowledgeable in WWTP laboratory procedures and testing methods.
- Familiarity with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Computer literacy for data entry and reporting.
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and communication skills.
