About the role
Join the team helping LEGOLAND California Resort become Zero Waste by 2030. As a Waste Management Technician, you'll play a vital role in maximizing landfill diversion through the daily collection, transportation, and processing of all organic, inorganic, and hazardous waste generated on site. You will work with five to six other technicians behind the scenes using hand tools, powered equipment, and company vehicles such as light-duty trucks.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily rounds of collection, segregation, and disposal of solid waste and recyclable material.
- Operate heavy equipment, such as light-duty trucks, trailers, compactors, balers, and forklifts.
- Dismantle unwanted equipment and assist in the recovery of recyclable materials using a variety of tools.
- Perform daily inspections to ensure department equipment and vehicles are in good working order.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment by sweeping, cleaning equipment, and reporting hazards.
- Notify the Assistant Manager of service interruptions, including blocked containers, closed pathways, equipment failure, or potential safety hazards.
- Work closely with the Assistant Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
- Notify the Assistant Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
- Perform all duties as scheduled by the Assistant Manager and assist other technicians as directed to meet resort needs.
- Build cooperative rapport with all departments and serve as an ambassador for resort sustainability and landfill diversion.
This role is seasonal and will sunset on Monday, February 24th, 2026.
Requirements
- Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Hold a current class C driver’s license, clean driving record, and meet California minimum liability car insurance requirements.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays to support park operations.
- Excellent verbal English skills.
- High school diploma or general education degree (or equivalent education and experience).
Qualifications
- Experience within the waste management industry, operating heavy equipment such as trucks, single-axle trailers, front-end loaders, compactors, or forklifts is desired but not required.
Safety
While performing duties, the individual is regularly required to:
- Stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
- Use hands and fingers to handle and/or grip objects, tools, and controls.
- Push, lift, and pull objects during duties.
- Be occasionally exposed to chemicals, hazardous waste, loud work environments, and seasonal temperature variations (25°F to 101°F).
- Work in wet surfaces, heights, confined spaces, and both indoors and outdoors.

Pay
Compensation between USD $19.50/Hr. and USD $19.50/Hr.
