About the role

The Waste Dock Associate is part of the cleaning crew responsible for cleaning and organizing the Waste Dock area, ensuring proper recycling and waste handling while meeting all GMP, Food Safety, and Plant Safety Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Detailed cleaning and upkeep of the waste dock, ensuring equipment is properly cleaned, organized, and meets recycling and waste standards.
  • Sweeping floors and keeping the waste dock free of debris with proper disposal of all waste.
  • Verifying proper sorting of recycling by the janitorial team.
  • Carrying out daily cleaning duties on the waste dock in a timely manner.
  • Examining and maintaining gaylords for recycling.
  • Complying with GMP and Food Safety guidelines; identifying and reporting food safety and quality issues.
  • Operating cleaning equipment such as the tote washer, floor scrubber, and high-pressure cleaning devices.
  • Certified to drive a forklift for proper staging on the waste dock and recycling locations.
  • Operating a baler as needed.
  • Monitoring open-top containers for recyclable waste.
  • Notifying the environmental manager when ready for pickup of bottled product or liquid organic waste.
  • Performing all tasks safely to avoid health or safety risks; following OSHA safety guidelines, wearing PPE, and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Applying LOTO (Lockout-Tagout) devices as needed.
  • Disposing of organic waste and recyclable materials daily.
  • Cleaning moving and unguarded equipment safely to prevent injury, equipment damage, or production downtime.
  • Supporting the plant’s Safety, Quality, TPM, and Cost Initiatives.
  • Frequently lifting/moving containers weighing 20-50 lbs; assisting in transporting heavy equipment with forklifts or other devices.
  • Understanding HACCP, SQF, ISO, and Safety requirements within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Reporting food safety and quality concerns to Supervision, Quality, or Senior Management.
  • Supporting the SQF system through adherence to plant policies and procedures.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Requirements

  • All job duties are hands-on, involving work around waste, water, and cleaning materials.
  • Requires climbing, bending, kneeling, pulling, and pushing, including the use of high-pressure hoses.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be available to work weekends and overtime.
  • Must comply with all established food safety, GMPs, safety procedures, and OSHA regulations.
  • Good attendance record is required.
