Responsibilities

• Secure containers by attaching hooks to containers, using control levers to pull them onto the truck bed, securing straps and hand tarps as needed.
• Provide distinguished service through courteous and efficient customer service in all aspects of refuse operations.
• Exhibit a positive attitude towards company, customers, and municipal goals.
• Answer customer questions and direct them to Customer Service or Sales Representatives for additional information.
• Operate compaction and lift equipment on the vehicle.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections according to Waste Pro procedures and DOT guidelines.
• Complete Safety Lane activities and DVIRs daily in accordance with Waste Pro safety lane guidelines.
• Inspect under the hood, check under the carriage, check fluid levels, and inflate tires.
• Maintain a clean truck and wash the exterior weekly.
• Inspect and clean the truck: lift the hood, inspect under the hood, walk around, and check under the carriage; pump gas, check fluid levels, and inflate tires - Use an air gauge, dipstick for levels, and gas pump nozzle for gas fill.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B CDL for the state where the position works.
• A clean driving record.
• At least 21 years old.
• Knowledge of refuse collection policies, procedures, guidelines, and practices; understanding of Department of Transportation and State requirements for commercial motor vehicle operators.
• Normal hearing and vision with or without correction.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, dispatchers, supervisors, understand traffic signals, and make legible entries on paperwork.
