About the role
This position involves the skilled operation of various crusher and washer equipment as well as a variety of laboring activities. Work will be performed per the plant foreman's instruction, free from direct supervision except for more complicated jobs.
Responsibilities
- Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain aggregate crusher, washer, and surrounding environment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Perform tasks including shoveling, sweeping, steam cleaning, painting, tire work, mechanical assistance, lifting, pushing, and pulling various objects.
- Communicate production issues to supervisor or lead person.
- Perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions.
- Keep time and material records.
- Understand aggregate sizes and classifications.
- Travel and work away from home when required.
- Work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Report to work at the designated start time.
- Able to work overtime when required.
- Other duties as assigned per supervisor.
Requirements
- One (1) year of related experience is preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required; one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft operating systems.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to work various shifts (days, nights, swings).
Physical Demands
- Grip with at least 90 lbs. of force.
- Climbing in, around, and on equipment.
- Heavy lifting of extremely awkward parts and equipment up to 75 lbs. from floor to waist.
- Getting to and from both sitting and kneeling on the ground.
- Awkward reaches and flexibility.
- Balance, including standing and walking on extremely slick and uneven surfaces while carrying.
- 20/40 corrected vision to see moving safety hazards, moving equipment, vehicles, and obstructions.
- Corrected hearing to hear verbal safety warnings and instructions from coworkers.
Work Environment
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
- Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
