Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform daily wash bay sanitation and equipment cleaning activities.
- Clean, wash, disinfect, and sanitize equipment, machinery, parts, tools, and assigned areas according to company procedures and biosecurity requirements.
- Help prevent cross-contamination by following established cleaning, sanitation, chemical use, and equipment handling procedures.
- Tear down machinery and equipment at the beginning of the cleanup shift to allow for proper cleaning and sanitation.
- Reassemble and help set up equipment before production begins.
- Maintain control of parts removed during cleaning, including gaskets, fittings, guards, and other removable components.
- Identify broken, worn, damaged, or missing parts and report concerns to management.
- Replace approved parts as needed or as directed.
- Mix, prepare, and use cleaning solutions, disinfectants, and other chemicals according to label instructions, company procedures, and safety requirements.
- Use chemicals safely and correctly, including proper concentration, storage, labeling, and required personal protective equipment.
- Maintain assigned areas in a clean, organized, and biosecure condition.
- Absorb and communicate equipment, sanitation, safety, or biosecurity concerns to the Sanitation Manager, supervisors, or area leaders.
- Work cooperatively with supervisors, coworkers, production employees, and management.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Sanitation Manager, supervisors, area leaders, or other members of management.
Job Qualifications
- Ability to work independently and stay self-motivated with limited supervision.
- Ability to follow directions, procedures, and biosecurity requirements.
- Basic understanding of equipment tear down, cleaning, and setup preferred.
- Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, and safe chemical use strongly preferred.
- Previous agricultural, poultry, sanitation, wash bay, equipment cleaning, or production experience preferred but not required.
- Previous experience handling, tracking, or replacing equipment parts preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize when equipment or areas have not been properly cleaned.
- Dependable attendance, sound judgment, and strong work ethic required.
- Ability to work cooperatively and respectfully with others.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, extended shifts, and varying schedules as needed.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
- Must be able to work in a wet, humid, and physically active agricultural production environment.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, twist, push, pull, and lift as required by the job.
- Must be able to work around machinery, equipment, poultry production areas, cleaning chemicals, and disinfectants.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment, which may include gloves, boots, eye protection, hearing protection, face protection, and other PPE as required.
- Must be able to follow biosecurity procedures, including company requirements related to personal hygiene, equipment movement, and restricted items.
