Warehouse Worker- Warehouse Associate- 1st Shift

About the Role

Penske Logistics is seeking warehouse associates to join a safety-conscious team. This role involves working in refrigerated, freezer, and non-climate-controlled environments while operating warehouse equipment such as electric pallet jacks and forklifts.

Pay

$21.27 per hour

Schedule

5:00 AM start time. Two schedule options:

• Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (off Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday)
• Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday (off Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday)

Schedules are assigned on the first day of training. Overtime is required, which may include extended daily hours or additional workdays.

Responsibilities

• Accurately match numbers and letters
• Stage and sort products for loading
• Load and unload trailers
• Open and close dock doors
• Maintain a clean and safe work area
• Sort and place parts in racks or designated areas
• Pull manual dock chains
• Stack cardboard boxes and pallets
• Move materials within the warehouse
• Comply with all safety requirements
• Package or kit finished product for shipping (shrink wrapping, boxing, labeling)
• Electronically scan products using a warehouse management system
• Perform quality control and identify damaged products
• Complete daily logs
• Communicate with associates from other shifts
• Attach identifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information
• Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments
• Record numbers of units handled and moved using daily production sheets or work tickets
• Assemble product containers and crates using hand tools and precut lumber
• Pack containers and re-pack damaged containers
• Read production schedules, customer orders, or shipping orders to determine items to be moved
• Sort and store perishable goods in refrigerated rooms
• Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials and distribute items
• Assemble customer orders from stock and place on pallets, shelves, or convey to packing stations
• Weigh or count items for distribution to ensure conformance to company standards
• Use computers to enter records
• Prepare parcels for mailing
• Maintain inventory records
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse mechanical equipment
• Transport stored items from warehouse to plant or pick up items for shipment
• Complete other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

• No prior warehouse experience required (preferred)
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Proficient reading skills and ability to follow directions
• Ability to work independently, with strong customer service, multitasking, organizational, and time management skills
• Flexibility to work overtime (preferred)
• Ability to work in non-climate-controlled conditions
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is essential
• Willingness to work the required schedule and at the specified location
• Complete a Penske employment application, background investigation (including past employment, education, and criminal history), and drug screening
• This position is safety-sensitive; ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required
• Ability to accept responsibility for personal safety and the safety of others
