This non-exempt position is covered under The McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). Service employees are compensated per the prevailing wage rates and fringe benefits set by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Wage and Hour Division's WDs 29 CFR Part 541 and 29 CFR 4.163(f), unless otherwise modified by a collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

About the Role

As directed, the Warehouse Specialist performs a variety of warehousing duties requiring an understanding of the establishment's storage plan. Work may involve:

  • Verifying materials or merchandise against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages.
  • Routing materials to prescribed storage locations; storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods.
  • Rearranging and taking inventory of stored materials, examining stored materials for deterioration and damage, and reporting findings.
  • Removing material from storage and preparing it for shipment.
  • Operating hand or power trucks to perform warehousing duties.

This role excludes workers whose primary duties involve shipping and receiving, order filling, or operating forklifts as their main function.

Responsibilities

  • Use the Government-provided Warehouse Management System (WMS) and other Government Data Systems to meet the requirements of the Performance Work Statement (PWS).
  • Communicate with the Compliance Team (Inventory, Customer Service, and Quality Control) regarding system discrepancies that cannot be resolved.
  • Maintain professional communication with co-workers, site management, and CGA regarding operations and policies at the Distribution Center.
  • Meet established productivity and quality control goals associated with the assigned functional area or process.
  • Follow established guidelines in performing routine tasks as outlined in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Technical Manuals, and Audit Readiness standards.
  • Understand and meet Acceptable Performance Levels (APLs) for assigned work areas and work expeditiously to meet contractual and team goals.
  • Adhere to government, contract, and company policies and procedures.
  • Use email to receive and disseminate workload tasks and information.
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in association with the Management and Contract Compliance Plan and workload requirements.
  • Adhere to PTi quality, safety, and environmental standards.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

  • Frequently handle equipment or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds individually; occasionally handle items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Exert moderate physical effort in loading, unloading, and arranging equipment or supplies.
  • Work inside and/or outside in dirty, dusty environments, and occasionally be exposed to hot, cold, damp, or drafty weather conditions.
  • Perform work on hard or uneven surfaces.

Requirements

  • Experience with warehouse equipment such as forklifts and handcarts.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety guidelines and practices.
  • Knowledge of governing supply systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines.
  • Knowledge of PPPM (Property, Plant, and Material Management) processes and procedures.
  • Skilled in planning, controlling, executing, multi-tasking, and ensuring the successful completion of work requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to effectively read, write, and comprehend written instructions in English, perform common mathematical tasks, and communicate effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills.
  • Material Handling Equipment (MHE) training.
  • Capability to easily identify discrepancies in time of receipt and SDR (Supply Discrepancy Report) processes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance applicable to the position and/or military Common Access Card (CAC) within 30 days if required.
  • Successful completion of WMS training, OSHA compliance, and associated DLA (Defense Logistics Agency) SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) training.
  • Completion of company-mandated training applicable to the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Warehouse experience.
  • Experience with hazardous material storage and shipments.
  • Military or DLA experience.
