About the Role

Penske Logistics is seeking warehouse associates to join an excellent team. This opportunity is ideal for safety-conscious individuals with a pleasant, outgoing attitude who want to excel in a food distribution warehouse with ambient, refrigerated, and freezer areas.

Pay

$20.35 per hour + $1.00 shift differential.

Schedule

Weekend-only schedules available:

  • Friday–Sunday (7am–7pm)
  • Thursday–Saturday (7am–7pm)

Schedules are based on location needs. Applicants must be available to work either schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse mechanical equipment
  • Transport stored items from warehouse to plant or pick up items from multiple locations
  • Accurately stage and sort products for loading
  • Load and unload trailers
  • Open and close dock doors
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Sort and place parts in racks or designated areas
  • Pull manual dock chains
  • Stack cardboard boxes and pallets
  • Move materials within the warehouse
  • Comply with all safety requirements
  • Package or kit finished product for shipping (shrink wrapping, boxing, labeling)
  • Electronically scan products using a warehouse management system
  • Perform quality control and identify damaged products
  • Complete daily logs
  • Communicate with associates from other shifts
  • Attach identifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information
  • Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments
  • Record numbers of units handled and moved using daily production sheets or work tickets
  • Pack containers and re-pack damaged containers
  • Read production schedules, customer orders, or shipping orders to determine items to be moved
  • Sort and store perishable goods in refrigerated rooms
  • Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials and distribute items
  • Assemble customer orders from stock and place on pallets or shelves
  • Convey orders to packing station or shipping department
  • Weigh or count items for distribution to ensure conformance to company standards
  • Use computer to enter records
  • Prepare parcels for mailing
  • Maintain inventory records and locations for shipment
  • Complete other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

  • No prior warehouse experience required (preferred)
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Proficient reading skills and ability to follow directions
  • Ability to work independently, with strong customer service, multitasking, organizational, and time management skills
  • Flexibility to work overtime (preferred)
  • Ability to work in non-climate-controlled conditions
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is essential
  • Willingness to work the required schedule and at the specified location
  • Complete a Penske employment application, background investigation (including past employment, education, and criminal history), and drug screening
  • This position is designated as safety-sensitive; ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required
  • Must accept responsibility for personal safety and the safety of others

  • Ability to remember and understand instructions, guidelines, or other information
  • Must be able to see and verbally communicate
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Frequent movement, standing, walking, and sitting
  • Frequent use of hands to touch, handle, and feel, and to reach with hands and arms
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg)
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs (45 kg)
