Warehouse Worker/Cover Driver

About the role

This dual-role position offers the opportunity to grow your skills, with primary assignment in the warehouse and opportunities to work as a cover driver. Your day-to-day assignment will vary based on business needs such as package volume, staffing needs, and seasonal demand.

Responsibilities

Warehouse work will include:

• Typically working 3.5 to 5 hours per day, Monday–Friday or Tuesday–Saturday
• Loading and unloading packages from UPS trailers and iconic brown package cars (vehicles)
• Sorting, moving, and handling packages in a fast-paced warehouse environment
• Reporting for your assigned warehouse shift when not scheduled as a Cover Driver

Cover Driver responsibilities will include:

• Typically working 8 to 10 hours per day, Monday–Friday or Tuesday–Saturday
• Safely operating UPS package delivery vehicles
• Delivering and picking up packages while providing excellent customer service
• Working independently in a fast-paced outdoor environment and in and out of customer locations
• Meeting all UPS driver qualification standards and requirements

Requirements

• The ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
• Stamina – this is a workout like no other!
• Valid driver’s license—no CDL required (License type varies by state – proof required to qualify for the position)
• Satisfactory driving history
• Pass the DOT physical
• Pass a UPS driver test
• Excellent customer contact and driving skills
• Authorized to work in the U.S.

Pay

The base pay for this position is $21.00/hour. A warehouse worker/cover driver is a great place to start at UPS, and it might even lead to a permanent, full-time delivery driver role, where they receive an average total compensation package of $145,000 per year.
