Warehouse Worker

Responsibilities

• Pick up, receive, store, and warehouse university property determined to be surplus and ready for sale, repurposing, or disposal.
• Prepare for the university's monthly surplus auction by arranging and numbering items within the warehouse.
• Assist the public during the preview and auction day.
• Support efficient warehouse processes while routinely interacting with the campus community.
• Communicate courteously and professionally with the campus community.
• Operate different larger vehicles, including a 5ton truck, safely through a congested campus at busy times.
• Use various types of equipment to assist with moving and distributing surplus items.
• Lift and carry heavy items up to 100 lbs.

Requirements

• Excellent driving history and ability to drive a larger vehicle for equipment pickups within a compact campus setting.
• Experience safely driving larger work or farm vehicles similar to those needed to operate a 5ton box truck.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy items up to 100 lbs.
• Demonstrated work ethic.
• Past work history demonstrating the ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Work or educational experience showing good communication and customer service skills.
• Availability to work University Surplus Auctions held 12 times per year.
• Occasional overnight travel may be required.
• Must have or be able to obtain a powered industrial equipment license for operating forklifts or other motorized moving equipment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience driving a 5ton work vehicle (non CDL).
• Previous work experience involving manual labor and heavy lifting.
• Previous work experience in a warehouse setting with industry-standard procedures.
• Experience with working auctions both privately and online.
• Understanding of standard inventory control processes.

Pay

Pay Band 3
Salary range of $41,000 - $44,000
Overtime Status: Non-Exempt: Eligible for overtime
