Warehouse Worker
About the role
San Diego State University, Department of Logistical Services, is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Warehouse Worker to support campus-wide receiving, shipping, distribution, and inventory activities. This role ensures the accurate handling of materials, equipment, and mail while maintaining efficient warehouse operations and supporting university property management processes.
Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and process incoming shipments; verify deliveries against purchase orders, packing slips, and shipping documents.
- Prepare, pack, and ship materials through common carriers, while providing pickup and delivery services across campus.
- Operate material handling equipment and university vehicles to transport supplies, equipment, and mail safely and efficiently.
- Maintain warehouse inventory, equipment records, surplus property documentation, and accurate asset tracking using barcode and identification systems.
- Auxiliary tasks include assisting with mail distribution, surplus removal, and property management activities.
Qualifications
- One year of experience assisting in the receipt, storage, or issuance of materials from a centralized stockroom or warehouse, including some experience in the operation of forklift trucks or similar power-operated materials handling equipment.
- Working knowledge of methods, practices, and equipment used in receiving, storing, packing, and shipping materials and supplies.
- General knowledge of methods of taking inventories and maintaining inventory records.
- Ability to match names and numbers quickly and accurately; keep simple records and make simple reports; Make simple mathematical calculations; operate powered materials handling equipment.
- Apply safe methods of moving heavy supplies and equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds with or without assistance.
- High school diploma, technical/vocational program, or other equivalents combined with several years of related work experience preferred.
- Forklift operation certificate preferred.
