Warehouse Worker

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive and distribute a high volume of food and related items, special shipments, and cleaning supplies daily.
  • Perform duties such as: receiving deliveries, checking in, recording receiving temps, stocking daily deliveries, reconciling freight bills or packing lists, appropriate handling of damaged goods etc.
  • Rotate food products according to expiration dates and sanitation rules.
  • Shelf all products according to the established inventory system.
  • Report any issues or delays.
  • Maintain a clean receiving area and properly dispose of pallets and packaging.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all storage areas, floors, walls, storage racks and freezers/coolers.
  • Follow sanitation guidelines and handle food in accordance with FDA food codes and as directed by MSU’s Registered Sanitarian.
  • Distribute food and related products regularly to dining hall concepts/areas as required.
  • May assist in basic food production or basic front of house areas if needed.
  • Make delivery runs across campus.
  • Assist with ordering as needed.
  • Actively contribute to the team by performing other duties as needed in support of the department’s mission.

Requirements

  • Experience stocking product or packages or a combination of relatable education and experience.
  • Experience taking accurate notes and solving basic math problems.
  • Experience with basic cleaning duties.
  • Warehouse experience handling food products and food service related items.
  • Experience operating warehouse related equipment.
  • Experience using computers and various software packages.

Special Requirements/Additional Information

  • Must possess currently or be eligible to obtain a valid State of Montana Driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record (less than 12 points).
  • Physical Demands: Normal warehouse, dock, kitchen, cooler, and freezer environments. Stationary and/or moving about for long periods of time. Constant use of handles while operating hand trucks and hydraulic jacks. Frequently moving, transporting, and placing containers/product weighing up to 100lbs. Occasionally moving product up and down stairs. Bending, kneeling, stretching and general moving about while stocking products. Gripping handles on small kitchen utensils and other equipment. Performing repetitive motions related to job duties. Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals. Occasional work outside in inclement weather.
