Warehouse Technician: Packaging

About the role

This position involves operating and maintaining equipment used by the Logistics Department, including seed conditioning, enhancement, and packaging processes. Responsibilities include setting up, operating, adjusting, and cleaning equipment, ensuring accuracy in weight measurements, meeting throughput targets, supporting other workstations, performing quality checks, and maintaining a clean work environment.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently run and clean required seed conditioning, seed enhancement, and packaging equipment.
• Set up, operate, adjust, maintain, and clean all equipment required for inspecting, labeling, and packaging products according to work orders, SOPs, and manuals.
• Ensure weights are accurate on all packaging orders and report discrepancies immediately.
• Maintain throughput targets for assigned areas while adhering to quality standards.
• Support other Logistics workstations or company departments as directed by supervisor or lead.
• Perform necessary quality checks for assigned processes, such as seed counting, moisture testing, physical purity, and other quality assurance checks.
• Enter, analyze, and record data for each process as required.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and orderly work station.
• Proactively assist other areas in the department to ensure cleanliness throughout the warehouse.
• Comply with SAI, state, and federal safety requirements and promote company injury prevention programs.
• Follow all SAI quality assurance policies and procedures.

• Strong analytical and mechanical aptitude.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• Ability to obtain Qualified Applicator Certificate.
• Ability to safely operate seed treating, drying equipment, forklifts, and other warehouse machinery and equipment.
• Ability to read and understand written instructions in English.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• High school or college science courses desirable.
• Minimum two years warehouse or related work experience preferred.
• Seed industry or agricultural background desirable.

Physical Demands

• Able to lift 55 pounds on a regular/daily basis.
• Able to work with chemicals and other irritating substances.
• Able to wear personal protective equipment on a daily/regular basis.
• Able to stand for long periods of time.
• Able to work in dusty, hot, and cold conditions.
• Available to work overtime during busy times of year and work weekends as required.
