About the role

The Warehouse Team Member is responsible for performing routine warehouse functions, including cycling shelved goods to preserve first-in-first-out picking, picking and staging raw materials for production, picking and staging finished goods, wrapping and labeling bulk and retail product for shipping, aiding with shipping and receiving functions, and assisting in production when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Compare Purchasing Order to Bill of Lading and handle incoming goods as per documented procedures.
  • Ensure good storage practices and FIFO rotation principles.
  • Cycle shelved goods (raw to finished) to preserve first-in-first-out (FIFO) picking.
  • Pick and stage raw materials for production.
  • Pick and stage finished goods.
  • Wrap and label bulk and retail product for shipping.
  • Aid with shipping and receiving of products and orders.
  • Ensure proper documentation and paperwork procedures are followed.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe environment by taking actions to correct small hazards and by notifying management of hazards that require the attention of management.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedure when performing tasks.
  • Adhere to all traffic safety and precautions while driving.
  • Ensure good storage practices.
  • Follow FIFO stock rotation principles.
  • Check conditions of stock and packaging before loading.
  • Check vehicle for pest infestations.
  • Ensure food safety transportation requirements are met.
  • Where external logistics are used, check compliance with agreed procedures.
  • Compliant of transportation requirements as per food safety contract.
  • Assist inventory purchaser with inventory of raw materials, ingredients and goods in warehouse.
  • Operate forklift according to policies and procedures determined by the company and in training.
  • Communicate with customers and vendors and provide superior customer service.
  • Provide customers with invoices and associated paperwork related to their order.
  • Comply with all Food Safety, Quality and Legal requirements written in each SOP pertaining to job duties.
  • Report any infractions of Food Safety, Quality or Legality to supervisor.
  • Follow personal hygiene practices as documented.

Performance Measures

  • Quality: Ensure the quality of all activities and outcomes within warehouse operations. Strive to detect irregularities in packaging materials, machinery or finished products. Ensure all quality standards have been met including correct product/weight, is properly sealed, contains the required lot number and is free from defects.
  • Shipping: Ensure good storage practices. Follow FIFO stock rotation principles. Check conditions of stock and packaging before loading. Check vehicle for pest infestations. Ensure food safety transportation requirements are met. Where external logistics are used, check compliance with agreed procedures. Compliant of transportation requirements as per food safety contract.
  • Inventory: Assist inventory purchaser with inventory of raw materials, ingredients and goods in warehouse.
  • Forklift Operation: Ensure certification is active. Operate forklift according to policies and procedures determined by the company and in training.
  • Vendor Relations: Communicate with customers and vendors. Provide superior customer service and provide customers with invoices and associated paperwork related to their order.
  • Food Safety & Quality/Legal Requirements: Comply with all Food Safety, Quality and Legal requirements written in each SOP pertaining to job duties. Report any infractions of Food Safety, Quality or Legality to supervisor. Follow personal hygiene practices as documented.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two (2) years of experience in warehouse operations for a manufacturing company.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

  • Two (2) years of experience in warehouse operations for a manufacturing company.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.

Other Functions

  • Participate in team meetings and make recommendations to increase productivity.
  • Participate in continuing education classes and monthly training courses.
  • Troubleshoot problems and take corrective action when possible.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Normal office conditions apply.
  • Employee must have clear, close vision for reading and computer work.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, balance, stoop, grasp, talk, hear and operate computer keyboard.
  • Job may require reaching at shoulder level and below waist.
  • Will occasionally lift/push/pull up to 60 pounds and carry objects.
